Aug 16th - The Cherry Festival
From the rich soil of the Flathead Valley to the hands of our community, every cherry from Tir na nÓg carries the flavor of Montana’s land and legacy. Our orchard sits just above the crystal waters of Flathead Lake — a region famous for producing cherries with exceptional sweetness and deep color, thanks to its unique climate and century-old growing tradition. Whether you’re picking up a basket at our festival or tasting something new from our small-batch line, you’re part of a story that supports Montana’s future.
Tucked along the western shores of Flathead Lake, our orchard is part of a long Montana tradition — growing some of the sweetest cherries in the country. Thanks to the lake’s moderating effect on temperature, the Flathead Valley has been producing cherries for over a century, known for their deep color, bold flavor, and natural sweetness.
At Tir na nÓg, we carry that legacy forward with care, hand-picking each cherry at peak ripeness. Harvest typically runs from mid-July to early August, depending on the season.
You’ll find our cherries sold fresh in:
Virginia City during our annual cherry festival
Pop-up stands and local partner locations throughout Montana
We’re also preparing a line of small-batch cherry products, including:
Jams and preserves
Hand-dipped cherry chocolates
Collaborations with Montana artisans, bakeries & restaurants (Including your favorite spots in Virginia City!)
Are you a maker, vendor, or local business interested in working with us? Reach out — we love building meaningful partnerships that celebrate Montana roots.
Every cherry you buy supports something bigger: a portion of proceeds goes to the Susanna Bogue Charitable Endowment Fund, helping fund education, arts, and heritage preservation across the state.
